Updated on Aug 08, 2025

Our ZEPHYR and VORTEX tire inflators use built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, which are classified under UN3481 – Lithium-ion batteries contained in equipment. This means they can be taken on planes, but aviation safety rules apply.

1. Airline & Aviation Regulations

Most airlines follow the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations:

Model Battery Capacity Watt-hour (Wh) Allowed in Carry-on Allowed in Checked Bag Airline Approval Needed

2. Key Rules to Follow

  • Carry-on is always preferred. Even if allowed in checked baggage, airlines recommend carrying lithium-powered devices in the cabin for safety.

  • Turn the inflator off completely during the flight.

  • Protect the device to prevent accidental activation or damage.

  • No damaged or swollen batteries allowed on board.

  • For VORTEX S7: Contact your airline before traveling — you may need written approval to bring it.
